When you have the chance, exchange weapons with an enemy Kain has just killed if he engaged in some serious blocking before hand. The current weapon equipped will appear under Kain's rage meter (or atop the two vials, whatever) and the weapon's image will turn red when it is about to break. Successful hits on foes will not cause a weapon to lose durability, and a weapon will function normally until it shatters. Weapon durability is used when ever Kain uses a weapon to successfully block any attack, or if his own attacks with the weapon are successfully blocked by the enemy. Because these weapons are of common manufacture, Kain will find that his strength and rough use will cause them to break eventually. Gone are his iron sword, spiked mace, the flame sword, and the axes - Havoc and Malice. Weapons in Nosgoth has not changed much, though Kain will be using non-magical tools this time around. Glyph batteries can be moved like movable boxes and they have the added benefits of completing power lines (wink, wink) and exploding (another wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean, know what I mean?). Glyph Battery: More of a puzzle object than an inventory item. Movable Box: The ubiquitous box will attempt to challenge Kain on a most elementary level in terms of mental puzzles. Once Kain has a magic weapon, use it until it breaks once you trade it for another weapon, the magic will flee and the weapon will return to normal (although the durability it has recovered will be retained). The Weapon Coffer will not only repair all damage to the current weapon, it will also imbue it with increased damage properties, allowing Kain to double his damage dealt. Weapon Coffer: The weapon coffer opens differently from Lore Coffers and is only applicable if Kain holds a weapon. Hold the suck button while the coffer is highlighted (ala Thief) to take all of the box's contents. Lore Coffer (blue) : The blue Lore Coffer holds five (5) lore spirits. Lore Coffer (red) : Unlike Lorr from Star Trek, the red Lore Coffer will hold three (3) lore spirits. Stand still and look at the scenery for a bit to "check things out." Note that all goodies (and switches as well) that Kain can interact with have an intermittent "item glint" similar to Resident Evil. The only other goodies are weapons Kain may use to dispatch foes, and servants or women that he can cast his Charm upon to force them to do his bidding. This is about the only goodie to look out for. The combination of Lore Coffers and fresh prey will increase Kain's blood vial until it nearly reaches the bottom of the screen (the lore bar and blood vial will be of about equal lengths if done properly). By drawing (or sucking) from Lore Coffers, Kain may draw from them the accumulated lore of vampiric un-life, thus increasing his lore without the need for him to seek out and prey on enemies. As Umah so helpfully mentions, Lore Coffers scattered throughout the area around Meridian. There are however, objects Kain should seek out. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Discard all notion of morality or abstinence and indulge in an orgy of blood choked carnage with unabandon. As you guide Kain on his mission to bathe the accursed Sarafan in blood, keep in mind Kain's nature and seek only that which will serve him on his quest. For a vampire, blood is life - and such as it is, blood is the most prized commodity amongst vampires, for it provides for their existence. Clothing is optional, though many vampires still retain the mortal shackle of shame. Wealth is but a means to an end, useful in manipulating the weak willed, or the greedy. Although they do feel pain, hunger, and lust on a scale greatly magnified from a human, "human comfort" is not in their vocabulary. Vampires have very little need for mortal trappings. "The natural order - vampires preying upon humans."
